Base masto is so bad at handling longposts that I'm convinced that's why most people think that the fedi is bad at longform content.

Did you know that the notifications pane just uses literally exactly the same React component as statuses displayed in feeds? so if someone interacts with a long-ish post, then every interaction can take up a full page of your notifs feed.

Even glitch mostly fixes this, all y'all on dot social and base masto need to get on forks.
